THE EARLY YEARS
2015
I stepped foot in my first recruitment role, excited to learn about the industry and nervous as I was starting from the bottom.
I quickly fell in love with the process, with building relationships, with helping people and the speed of the contract construction world. Over the years I placed hundreds of people and learned that caring really does matter. This was thrown in my face once, I was told I care too much but that was my selling point, I put 100% into every single placement no
matter what level.
MY INSPIRATION
2018
My four legged best friend fell into my life, Monty, the French Bulldog. We turned up to “meet” him and it was explained he had some issues, his reactivity towards dogs and most new people was something that a number of professional behaviourists had said would never change – they had written him off.
He came home that day and we worked tirelessly to better him, to stop him from having a fear of the outside world and everything in it. It wasn’t easy, every walk was a struggle but we refused to give up and so did he. He’s by no means
perfect now and we still have a few niggles but with the attention and care we are getting there and he became the inspiration for Underdog.
THE STORY CONTINUES
2020
Early 2020 I decided it was time to shake up the recruitment industry, it was a negative place, no one helping each other unless there was a fee involved, a distinct lack of communication between consultants, candidates and clients and a LOT of dishonesty.
So here Underdog was born……
I WANTED TO MAKE A CHANGE TO THE RECRUITMENT INDUSTRY.
I wanted to change it, I wanted to help people find a job that they loved, really loved. The kind of job that you go to bed on a Sunday looking forward to the alarm going off on a Monday morning, we spend so much time at work why would you want to hate what you do?
I also wanted to help people achieve their dreams (as cheesy as that sounds) because so many people will knock you down for having big dreams and aspirations that sometimes feel unreachable but only you and your mentality denotes whether you do what people say you cannot do.
We want you to have the “UNDERDOG” mentality – nothing to lose, everything to gain!
